◎ Description：

With an aging population, Pingtung County, the second largest in southern Taiwan, urgently needs improved healthcare infrastructure. To address this, the county government partnered with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital to establish a new branch, set for completion by the end of 2022. Designed to meet EEWH (ecology, energy saving, waste reduction, and health) standards, the facility reflects a commitment to sustainability and better healthcare access. The 11-floor hospital, including two basement levels, spans 92,296 m². Construction involved excavating 10 meters into a groundwater-rich area, creating significant water management challenges. Located in a densely populated residential zone, the site required a 1 km-long piping system. To address these demands, the project used 80 IC-46B pumps for horizontal installation and two 100HD211 high-head dewatering pumps as relays. The 100HD211’s abrasion-resistant steel impellers and water-cooled motors ensured reliable, long-term performance. Operating 24/7 for three months, the dewatering pumps successfully balanced internal and external water pressure, overcoming complex site constraints. This solution ensured smooth progress in building the facility that will greatly enhance healthcare services for Pingtung County residents.
